Labor Day = Lake Minatar

It's Labor Day weekend: the yearly reminder that summer is coming to an end. We decided to journey to Lake Minatar the closest Nebraskan lake to Colorado. We joined our friends Jeff & Deanna, Tim, and Tim & Heidi. No that wasn't a typo we went with 2 Tims, 3 when you count Deanna's dad who is better known as old man Trostle. Old Man Trostle was the ring leader who gathered 30+ family and friends for this trip. There was quite a crew and we designated our own stretch of beach. There was a huge bonfire nightly, plenty of food, and lots of fun.
"our crew" is pictured below- minus a Tim. Tim LIVED in the lake all day and everyday. None of the photos I took of him came out due to the glare off the lake and his distance. :( However, I would to thank Tim for the daily breakfasts, and for lending us the kayak (that was the highlight of my weekend.)

These are our friends Heidi and Tim. They camped right next to us in a mac daddy motorhome. They had the best vantage point to keep an eye out for Ranger Rick. Thanks for saving our beers from capture!

By the second day Lee had developed a fan club for his waterskiing, wake and knee boarding capabilities. Not to mention he was the boat mechanic ( a title he received on a previous boating trip with the Trostle's).

Sasha curled up in the Creampuff (our camper) after a hard day of play. She fetched and swam, fetched and swam, fetched and swam until she couldn't swim anymore. She pouted the whole way home. I think she thought we had moved to the lake permanently. A doggie's paradise.

My Best Friend's Birthday

I was lucky enough to go visit my best friend Kristy for her Birthday. (August 19th) She lives in Frisco (Summit County) in the mountains. We went to Keystone and took 2 gondolas till we reached the very top. Where we had a fun and yummy fondue dinner. Yes, they had raclett (sp) cookers, fondue pots, and a polka band. Of course I had to ruin this perfectly good picture with bunny ears, but I wanted show everyone who the birthday girl is! Happy Birthday Kristy!!!

The Butterfly Pavillion

We took a Sunday visit to the Butterfly Pavillion. Aidan had a great time in the "Shrink" Room where mechanical bugs appear to be human-size. Unfortunately, I didn't get any good pictures of him. (I think Julie has a great one of him climbing in the giant honeycomb though. ) Below are a few photos of everyone else. Thanks for the membership Mom we will use it!
